Wayanad, the 12th district of God's Own Country, is one of Kerala's most well-known and often visited tourist sites. It is tucked away in the captivating appeal of the Western Ghats. This oasis is also renowned as a picturesque hill station in the southernmost extremity of the Deccan Plateau, perched at an astounding height of 700 to 2,100m.
Day Wise Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival in Wayanad – Edakkal Caves & Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
- Arrival: Reach Kalpetta or Sulthan Bathery (via Kozhikode airport or railway station).
- Check-in to a nature resort or jungle stay.
- Visit Edakkal Caves: Prehistoric rock engravings and scenic hill views.
- Evening Jungle Safari at Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary (part of Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary):
- Overnight stay in Wayanad.
Day 2 Tholpetty Safari & Pookode Lake
- Early Morning Safari at Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary (northern part of Wayanad): Rich fauna, bird species, and a serene forest drive. Breakfast at the resort
- Visit Pookode Lake – a scenic freshwater lake with boating and nature trails.
- Lakkidi Viewpoint for breathtaking views of the valley.
- Optional: Ayurvedic massage at the resort.
- Overnight stay in Wayanad.
Day 3 Kuruva Island & Banasura Sagar Dam
- Visit Kuruva Island (subject to forest department permission): A protected river delta with rare birds, herbs, and trees. Bamboo rafting experience available.
- Afternoon visit to Banasura Sagar Dam – largest earthen dam in India. Boating and photo ops.
- Explore local tribal culture or visit Uravu Bamboo Village.
- Overnight stay in Wayanad.
Day 4 Departure
- Morning have breakfast at resort late check out resort and drive to Airport / Railway Station for departure.
